By the rivers of Babylon we sat and wept
              一想起錫安就痛哭.                                          when we remembered Zion.
There on the poplars
               掛在那裏的柳樹上.                                                   we hung our harp,
3    因在那裏, 俘虜我們的要我們歌唱,                        for there our captors asked us for songs,
        逼害我們的要我們唱歡樂之歌,                             our tormentors demanded song of joy;
        說: "給我們唱一首錫安之歌吧!"                      they said, "Sing us one of the songs of Zion!"

How can we sing the songs of the Lord
                 唱耶和華之歌呢?                                                while in a foreign land?
If I forget you, O Jerusalem,
          就讓我的右手忘了彈琴技巧;                                   may my right hand forget its skill.
May my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth
         不認為耶路撒冷是我最大喜樂;                                        if I do not remember you,
         就讓我的舌頭緊貼我的上膛吧!                          if I do not consider Jerusalem my highest joy.

Remember, O Lord, what the Edomites did
           求你毋忘耶路撒冷淪陷之日,                                         on the day Jerusalem fell.
Tear it down," they cried,
          "拆毀它! 拆毀它! 徹底拆毀它!"                                  "tear it down to its foundations!"
O Daughter of Babylon, doomed to destruction,
               依照你們惡行報應你們,                     happy is he who repay you for what you have done to us -
               把你們的嬰孩往石上摔,                                            he who seizes your infants
                     該多麼痛快啊!                                           and dashes them against the rocks.

                                                          大衛的詩
1        耶和華啊! 我要一心讚美你;                         I will praise you, O Lord, with all my heart;
              在"諸神"面前歌頌你.                                before the "gods" I will sing your praise.
I will bow down toward your holy temple
         為你的慈愛信實讚美你的名;              and will praise your name for your love and your fithfulness,
         因你的名和你的話超越一切.            for you have exalted above all things your name and your word.

               使我剛強心中有力.                                      you made me bold and stouthearted.

May all the kings of the earth praise you,
O Lord,

Though the Lord is on high,
                仍然看顧卑微的人;                                        he looks upon the lowly,
                老遠認出驕傲的人.                                 but the proud he knows from afar.
Though I walk in the midst of trouble,
                你仍憐憫使我存活;                                          you preserve my life;
          你伸手打擊向我發怒的仇敵,            you stretch out your hand against the anger of my foes,
                用你的右手拯救我.                                  with your right hand you save me.
8         耶和華必為我成全衪的旨意,                         The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me;

                                              大衛的詩, 交詩班長
O Lord, you have searched me
                 你鑒察過我也了解我.                                          and you know me.
2            我坐下, 我起來, 你都知道;                        You know when I sit and when I rise;
               你從遠處就看透我的意念.                         you perceive my thoughts from afar.
3             我行走, 我躺臥, 你都細察;                    You discern my going and my lying down;
                你深知我的一切所作所為.                            you are familiar with all my ways.
Before a word is on my tongue
                   你就完全清楚知道了.                                you know it completely, O Lord.

5                      你前後擁抱我,                                 You hem me in - behind and before;
                        按手在我身上.                                   you have laid your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
                    神妙莫測, 崇高莫及.                                       too lofty for me to attain.

Where can I go from your spirit?
                    往那裏去逃避你的面?                               Where can I flee from your presence?
8              我若上到高天, 你就在那裏;                          If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
                我若下榻陰間, 你也在那裏.                      if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
                      飛到海的極處居住;                                    if I settle on the far side of the sea,
10             就在那裏, 你的手會引導我;                               even there your hand will guide me,
                     你的右手也會緊扶我.                                     your right hand will hold me fast.

If I say, "Surely the darkness will hide me
                     讓四周的亮光變成黑暗."                              and the light become night around me,"
12                 即使黑暗對你並不黑暗;                            even in the darkness will not be dark to you;
                     黑夜必如白晝發出亮光.                                      the night will shine like the day,
                     在你看來黑暗如同光明.                                       for darkness is as light to you.

13                 我的五臟六腑都是你造的,                          For you created my inmost being;
                     我在母腹中你就塑造了我.                  you knit me together in my mother's womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and

                  為我所定的日子, 一日還未度過,                             were written in your book
                           就全記在你冊上了.                                 before one of them came to be.

How precious to me are your thoughts, O God!
How vast is the sum of them!
Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand.
When I awake, I am still with you.

If only you would slay the wicked , O God!
Away from me, you bloodthirsty men!

                          你的仇敵也妄稱你名.                            your adversaries misuse your name.
Do I not hate those who hate you,
                   恨惡你的, 我怎能不恨惡他們呢?                                          O Lord,
                   攻擊你的, 我怎能不憎惡他們呢?                   and abhor those who rise up against you?
22                            我恨透他們,                                    I have nothing but hatred for them;
                                以他們為敵.                                           I count them my enemies.

23                神啊! 你鑒察我, 知道我的心思;                   Search me, O Lord, and know my heart;
                          試煉我, 知道我的意念.                         test me and know my anxious thoughts.
See if there is any offensive way in me,
