1 雅基之子亞古珥的話乃神的默示. The sayings of Agur son of Jakeh - an oracle.
此人對以鐵和烏甲宣示: This man declared to Ithiel and to Ucal:
2 "我是世人中最無知的人, "I am the most ignorant of men,
也沒有世人的聰慧明理. I do not have a man's understanding.
3 我沒有學習到智慧, I have not learned wisdom,
對至聖者一無所知. nor have I knowledge of the Holy One.
4 誰升上天降下地? Who has gone up to heaven and come down?
誰能空掌收聚風? who has gathered up the wind in the hollow of his hands?
誰能外衣包大水? who has wrapped up the water in the cloak?
誰能定地的四極? who has established all the ends of the earth?
衪名甚麼子名誰? What is his name, and the name of his son?
你若知道告訴我. Tell me if you know!

衪是投靠祂者的盾牌. he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.

否則你說謊必受責備. or he will rebuke you and prove you a liar.

7 主啊! 我求你兩件事, Two things I ask you, O Lord;
在我死前不要拒絕我: do not refuse me before I die:
8 讓虛假和謊言遠離我, Keep falsehood and lies far from me,
使我不貧窮也不富有, give me neither poverty nor riches ,
只要賜給我日需飲食. but give me only my daily bread.
9 免得吃得太飽不認你, Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you
且會說, "誰是耶和華?" and say, " Who is the Lord?"
又免得我窮極去偷竊, Or I may become poor and steal,
因此羞辱我神的美名. and so dishonor the name of God.

10 勿在主人面前中傷他的僕人, Do not slander a servant to his master,
免得他咒詛你讓你付出代價. or he will curse you, and you will pay for it.

11 有人咒詛父親, There are those who curse their fathers
也不祝福母親; and do not bless their mothers;
12 有人自視純潔, those who are pure in their own eyes
卻沒洗淨污穢; and yet are not cleaned of their filth;
13 有人眼目高傲, those whose eyes are ever so haughty,
目光鄙視一切; whose glances are so disdainful;
14 有人牙利如劍, those whose teeth are swords
尤其齒快若刀, and whose jaws are set with knives
要吞噬地上窮人, to devour the poor from the earth,
和吞滅世間貧民. the needy from among mankind.

15 吸血水蛭有二女, The leech has two daughters
聲聲高喊, "給我! 給我!" "Give! Give!" they cry.

有三種永不知足的東西, There are three things that are never satisfied,
連永不說, "夠了!" 的, 共四種: four that never say, "Enough!"
16 陰間, 不孕子宮, the grave, the baren womb,
永吸不夠水的土地, land, which is never satisfied with water,
和永不說, "夠了!" 的火. and fire, which never says, 'Enough!'

17 嘲笑父親的眼, The eye that mocks a father,
和藐視母親管教的, that scorns obedience to a mother,
他的眼睛必被谷中烏鴉啄出, will be pecked out by the ravens of the valley,
給兀鷹吞噬. will be eaten by the vultures.

18 有三樣事對我太奇妙, There are three things that are too amazing for me,
連我不了解的共四樣: four that I do not understand:
19 老鷹天空飛行之道, the way of an eagle in the sky,
蛇在岩石爬行之道, the way of a snake on a rock,
船隻海洋航行之道, the way of a ship on the high seas,
和男女交合之道, and the way of a man with a maiden.

20 淫婦之道是這樣: This is the way of an adulteress:
她吃完把嘴一抹, She eats and wipes her mouth
就說, "我又沒做甚麼壞事." and says, 'I've done nothing wrong.'

21 有三樣事使大地震動, Under three things the earth trembles,
連地擔不起的共四樣: under four it cannot bear up;
22 僕人作王, a servant who becomes king,
愚人飽食, a fool who is full of food,
23 醜女出嫁, an unloved woman who is married,
婢奪主位. and a maidservant who displaces her mistress

24 地上四物雖小, Four things on earth are small,
卻非常有智慧: yet they are extremely wise:
25 螞蟻雖係力小生物, Ants are creatures of little strangth,
卻能夏日積存食物; yet they store up their food in the summer;
26 岩狸雖係弱小生物, coneys are creatures of little power,
卻能懸崖危岩築窩; yet they make their home in the crags;
27 蝗蟲雖然沒有君王, locusts have no king,
卻能成群列隊前進; yet they advance together in ranks;
28 壁虎雖然可用手抓, a lizard can be caught with the hand,
卻能安然住在王宮. yet it is found in king's palaces.

29 有三種步伐昂揚的動物, There are three things that are stately in their stride,
連行走神氣的共有四種: four that move with stately bearing:
30 獅子乃萬獸之王, a lion, mighty among beasts,
無獸能使之退卻; who retreats before nothing;
31 昂首闊步的公雞, 公山羊, a strutting rooster, a he-goat,
和統領大軍的君王. and a king with his army around him.

32 你若行事愚昧, 自高自大, If you have played the fool and exalted youself,
就要以手掩口! clap your hand over your mouth!

猛扭鼻子出鮮血, and as twisting the nose prodeces blood,
激發怒氣必紛爭." so stirring up anger produces strife."

(IV) 利慕伊勒王箴言(31:1-9):
1 利慕伊勒王的話是神的默示, The sayings of King Lemuel - an oracle
也是他母親教訓他的: his mother taught him:
2 我兒啊! 我腹中的兒啊! "O my son, O son of my womb,
我許願得的兒啊! O son of my vows,
3 不要把精力花在女人的身上, do not spend your strength on women,
把體力耗在敗壞王的人身上. your vigor on those who ruin kings.

4 "利慕伊勒啊! 多事君王不可為, "It is not for kings, O Lemuel -
君王千萬不可喝酒, not for kings to drink wine,
臣宰更不可喝烈酒. not for rulers to crave beer,
5 免得酗酒忘了律法, lest they drink and forget what the law decrees,
剝奪受壓百姓權利. and deprive all the oppressed of their rights.
6 讓滅亡的人去喝烈酒, Give beer to those who are perishing,
讓痛苦的人去喝清酒; wine to those who are in anguish;
7 讓他們喝了忘記窮困, let them drink and forget their poverty
不再記得他們的悲慘. and remember their misery no more.
